TurtleBlock Studio

Getting started with Pico W

Free ($0) is the block builder and the Pico W simulator. Standard ($30/month) adds ESP32, Raspberry Pi, Makeblock, USB upload, and .py downloads. Premium ($50/month) adds online project saves.

TurtleBlock Studio is block coding for Pico W. You snap Blockly blocks in the browser, try them on the Pico W simulator, then send them to a real Raspberry Pi Pico W.

  1. Press Open Studio. The studio opens in this browser. No account is needed, and your blocks stay on this computer.

  2. Leave the board on Raspberry Pi Pico W. The simulator in the browser is for Pico W.

  3. Open Samples and choose Blink an LED, or snap your own blocks. The studio shows the MicroPython those blocks create.

  4. Run the simulator to watch the Pico W pins change on screen.

  5. To use a real Pico W, open the studio in Chrome or Edge, plug the board in with USB, and press Connect Board.

USB upload uses the browser’s Web Serial support, which Chrome and Edge provide. Firefox and Safari can still open the simulator.

The Blink an LED sample repeats forever: onboard LED on, wait 500 milliseconds, onboard LED off, wait 500 milliseconds.
